Go Green tips for June 3rd

Gotta tip you want to share with Sarah and the Go Green Ride at Five? Email her: sarah@921wvtk.com!

Here Sarah's groovy green tips for Thursday, June 3rd:

• What comes to mind when I say recycled pets? Well, aren't we practicing recycling when we adopt from the Addison County Humane Society? Don't shop, adopt!
• Tired of your old wardrobe, books, DVD’s or CD’s? Swap them for something fresh! There’s tons of sights online that enable you to simply swap your stuff with someone else and no mall need be visited in the endeavor! Visit swapacd.com, swapadvd.com and paperbackswap.com for access to thousands of CDs, books and DVDs. To switch duds: Check out swapstyle.com for more information.

If your kids are like mine, the latest technology is primary on their list of must haves. So & so has the itouch-phone, super pixellated, digital-a-rific, thing-a-ma- jig, and I’m gonna hold my breath until I get one, too. Luckily blue is her color! Seriously, though, trying to keep up with the Jones’ electronics could put you in the poor house and contribute to wasted resources. Twice, now, my husband and I have had success with refurbished electronics. He did a little research on the web and we found an ipod—cheap! You can get refurbished electronics for a steal (they often sell for less than 50 percent of the retail price!), and before they're resold to the public, they go through an intense defect-testing process and the warranties usually remain intact. So you can save money and help reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills. Shop at www.dyscern.com and www.refurbdepot.com. See, I’ve got your graduation gift list all sewn up! It’s the Go Green Ride at Five on 921WVTK.
