Here Sarah's groovy green tips for Friday, June 18th:
• Still in the bottled water habit? There are so many cool reuseable bottles out there that are attractive and inexpensive and way better choices than more plastic in our landfills!
• Planning on flying out soon on a summer vacation? Opt for Electronic ticketing, less paper waste and you’re less likely to lose your ticket!
Everyone has that one thing that sets them off. For some, it’s dirty socks on the floor, for others, it might be loud chewing. For me, I get a knee jerk reaction to the waste of food. One way that might happen is if one decides to plant a garden much larger than their family can consume. Now, unless you’re planning to open your own roadside stand, or plan to donate to a local shelter, this is a waste. And if you do plan to donate your excess, that’s something you have to be on top of. No one wants veggies past the expiration date, so to speak. So periodically, at least once a week, you’ll have to make the time to pull your crop and make the trip. Can you make that commitment? What might be better for you, if you’re half as busy as I am, is to simply ask your garden center representative advice on how big your garden should be feed your family. For a family of four, some recommend a 6 by 6ft. plot. Now, don’t even ask me what I think of oversized portions in restaurants, we’ll never get back to the music if I get on that soap box! Opinionated, but green! The Go Green Ride at Five on 92.1 WVTK!
