Here Sarah's groovy green tips for Tuesday, June 22nd:
• Looking to save some cash on gas this summer? Make sure you stay current with changing your vehicle’s air filter. A clean air filter can improve gas mileage by as much as ten percent!
• Got a teenager with stinky feet? It’s just a question! Reuse your drier sheets by stuffing them into his or her shoes in the closet. Remember, the smell of your children shouldn’t hit the room before they do!
It’s flea season!!! Can I get a Woo Hoo? I’ve already found a couple in my house and our pets have been treated, so that alone obviously does not do the trick. Now, I’d like to avoid the usage of any more pesticides in the house, especially because I have a child who is often very close to the carpeting. There’s a few tricks to be used that have been found to work without putting your family or pets at risk. Let’s start with an all out infestation, might as well get to the heart of the matter. One word: Borax. Yep, good 'ol 20 Mule Team Borax. Sprinkle on your carpets, let sit overnight, then vacuum. It can also be sprinkled around the fence of your yard. And, as a bonus, ants are also repelled by Borax. Hey, that’s a two for one! For what you consider to be a smaller flea problem, try the Dish Liquid "Trap" - To rid your home of fleas naturally, put a water-filled plate on the floor in the most affected area, add a drop or two of dish liquid, put a lamp on the floor next to the plate and go to bed (unless you want to hide and watch). The fleas are attracted to the light and jump on the plate. They would be able to jump out of water alone but with the dish liquid, they sink and drown. --A quick and quiet death, I promise!
