Go Green tips for June 30th

Gotta tip you want to share with Sarah and the Go Green Ride at Five? Email her: sarah@921wvtk.com!

Here Sarah's groovy green tips for Wednesday, June 30th:

• Would you be interested in going to a green general store. One that only sells products with buzzwords like sustainable, organic, reuseable and recycled. There’s one in Shelburne now, on Shelburne road, called Home Ecology, where you’ll find many ways, lots of small steps to take to go green!
• Don’t forget your washer has a cold setting. It does just as good a job getting the clothes clean and detergents now are fashioned to work better on cold. Save the energy and use the cold!

Sunday is the 4th of July, and what better way to honor the nation we love than by protecting and conserving its natural resources? My tips this week, I hope, will help you plan a greener celebration! Party planning, not only do we take the menu seriously, we also have high expectations for how our party will look! Instead of buying all-new U.S.A.-themed decorations, look around to see what you already own that you could use. White Christmas lights could brighten up a late-afternoon get-together. Flowers from your (or a generous neighbor’s) garden can make the perfect centerpiece. Still yearning for red, white, and blue? Dress in it, bake a three-hued cake, or put out bowls of strawberries, blueberries, and sliced apples. Speaking of snacks, buy stuff like potato chips and other nibbles in bulk to prevent single-packaging waste, that is, as long as you're sure it'll all be eaten. Party green on the Go Green Ride at Five on 92.1 WVTK!
