Go Green tips for July 12th

Gotta tip you want to share with Sarah and the Go Green Ride at Five? Email her: sarah@921wvtk.com!

Here Sarah's groovy green tips for Monday, July 12th:

• Remember in this age of recycling, that a recycled pet is also a great choice! The Addison County Humane Society in Middlebury has a full house of wonderful animals, all in need of a forever home. Don’t shop…adopt!
• On the road, soon for the vacation. When was your last tune up? A properly maintained engine can improve mileage by up to 4%. Money save on gas can be put towards a vacation fun!

Every day this week, I have the privilege of broadcasting live at the 32nd annual Festival on Green on Middlebury’s town green. Today, the green was packed with families enjoying the Brown Bag Special, featuring a wonderful show by the No Strings Marionette Company. Now, I arrive way before the show starts, before the audience arrives, most of the time and I’m there after they all pack up their blankets and coolers and head for an air-conditioned locale. What I love about this festival is the organizers have gone a long way towards encouraging the public to dispose of their lunch correctly. Not only with large garbage receptacles positioned through out the park, they also have plenty of recycle bins. I witnessed many parents encouraging their children of all ages to separate their garbage and make sure they were using the correct bin. I actually heard a mom telling her young child to leave the green better than he found it. I felt so much pride in my town at that moment. Way to go, Middlebury! Way to go Festival on the Green! Tonight at 7, the Doughboys are playing! Grab the blanket, a good snuggler and go enjoy the show! It’s the Go Green Ride at Five on 92.1 WVTK!
