Gotta tip you want to share with Sarah and the Go Green Ride at Five? Email her: sarah@921wvtk.com!
Here Sarah's groovy green tips for Tuesday, August 31st:
• Are squirrels raiding the yard and garden? To keep the cute nuisance from eating your plants, sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper. The pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the squirrels won't come near it.
• Warm weather and bridge construction are bringing the bicyclists out in droves! Bikers, remember sidewalks downtown are for pedestrians on foot, and unless you are walking your bike, you need to keep to the road!
Think for a moment of all the plastic, paper or styrofoam you might use in a day. On your way to work, there’s that cup of coffee you stop for with maybe a bagel or muffin that comes complete with its paper or plastic bag and paper napkins. Over the course of our morning, there’s, perhaps, a couple more cups of coffee taking advantage of the Styrofoam cups your employer is kind enough to supply. Lunch is a Styrofoam and paper extravaganza…I know, I’ve lost count, too. There a few ways we can cut down on waste when visiting the grocery store, coffee shop, or cafe. How? Pack a reusable bag, mug, napkin, or eating utensils in your purse. You could even take it further if you’d like and when you’re planning to dine at a restaurant, consider bringing a container for leftovers, and If you’re like me, there’s always leftovers. I usually order more than I can eat so I have lunch for work the next day! All ways lead to green on the Go Green Ride at Five on 92.1 WVTK!
